Where can PROMs be used?

PRO data can be used at:

  • individual level: PRO data from one patient
  • group level: aggregated data from multiple patients or subgroups (e.g., sex, age, diagnosis, treatment)

PRO data can be applied in

In inpatient and outpatient care, PRO data are mainly used at the individual level across the course of treatment.

Examples:
  • Before therapy (decision): to identify risk factors, and inform overall risk/benefit of therapies
  • During therapy: to monitor symptom burden and target supportive care
  • End of therapy: to identify aftercare needs
  • Aftercare: to identify issues requiring clinical attention
