Electronic PRO assessment (2): Requirements

If you want to assess PRO data electronically, the following requirements need to be considered.

Electronic PRO assessment requires an existing IT system for the installation and processing of the PROM software (see next slide) and the processing and storage of PRO data. The IT system consists of hardware (e.g. server) and software components (e.g. clinical information system, electronic patient records) and is usually administrated by IT professionals.

Where will the PRO data be entered?	Patient’s room, waiting room, examination room, HCPs office, anywhere outside the clinic with internet access (e.g., at patients’ home)
Which existing devices or devices to acquire can be used for the entry of PRO data?	Devices available in the setting (e.g. tablets, bedside monitors, PCs, notebooks), devices owned by patients (e.g. smartphones, smartwatches, tablets, PCs, notebooks)
Who will view the PRO data?	HCPs alone, patients alone, patients together with HCPs
Where will the PRO data be viewed?	Patient’s room, HCPs office, patient’s home, anywhere with internet access
Which existing devices or devices to acquire can be used for the display of PRO data?	Devices available in the setting (e.g. static or mobile PCs/notebooks), devices owned by patients (e.g. smartphones, tablets, PCs, notebooks)
