Samenvatting
- PROMs ondersteunen gestructureerde, patiëntgerichte communicatie door systematisch de perspectieven en ervaringen van patiënten over ziekte- en behandelingsgerelateerde belasting vast te leggen.
- Het introduceren van PROMs bij patiënten vereist dat duidelijk wordt uitgelegd wat hun doel en relevantie zijn en hoe de verzamelde gegevens worden gebruikt.
- PRO-gegevens kunnen gesprekken tussen patiënt en zorgverlener structureren door te focussen op de aspecten die het meest relevant zijn voor het welzijn van de patiënt.
- Patiënten hebben misschien doorlopende ondersteuning nodig om PROMs regelmatig in te vullen, terwijl het niet invullen moet worden aangepakt met gerichte strategieën afgestemd op de onderliggende oorzaken.
- PRO-gegevens moeten consistent worden besproken tijdens consulten, omdat het voor patiënten een belangrijke motivatie is om te weten dat hun PRO-gegevens actief worden gebruikt.
- PRO-gebaseerde communicatie moet worden afgestemd op individuele behoeften, waaronder gevoeligheid voor culturele achtergronden en een zorgvuldige omgang met gevoelige onderwerpen die PROMs kunnen helpen identificeren.
- PRO-gebaseerde communicatie tussen zorgverleners ondersteunt een duidelijke roltoewijzing en interdisciplinaire uitwisseling. Hierdoor worden teamgebaseerde behandelbeslissingen mogelijk op basis van een gezamenlijk begrip van het algehele welzijn en de belasting van de patiënt.
